All donations benefit Avenues for Justice to increase neighborhood awareness, build community and foster involvement in the rapidly changing neighborhood of the Lower East Side; to help residents create something in their own neighborhood, outside of the commercial forces that are gentrifying not only the LES but urban areas all over the country, where we see neighborhoods homogenizing and losing touch with their roots as longstanding communities are priced and forced out. There will be a youth workshop around the event on grassroots efforts to bring music and community together.
